Raised floor grommets to save energy

Over the past 40 years the IT industry has seen a significant decrease in the use of floor space and a proportional to the increase in the use of IT Infrastructure. Energy consumption has also seen the same increase as the temperatures in data centres should be kept constant to get the best performance from the installed hardware. Maintaining a constant temperature requires lots of energy for additional cooling systems. Unfortunately cable openings waste a huge part of installed airflow in a typical server room.

Patented Koldlok® products specifically addresses the issue of bypass airflow in data centres.

Unsealed cable openings allow on an average 63% of conditioned cold air to escape. Using Koldlok® raised-floor grommets is a low cost and long term solution for achieving the hardware air intake temperature and humidity conditions required for maximum reliability and performance. It helps to save the additional production of energy and to void unnecessary investments in additional cooling capacities.

  • Koldlok® Integral Split raised-floor grommet designed for new installations on the edge of floor tiles. This raised-floor grommet is in two halves and allows the cables to be removed
  • Koldlok® Surface Mount raised-floor grommets designed for existing installations, and because they are in two halves there is no need to disconnect any cables.
  • Koldlok® Surface XL raised-floor grommets - designed to fit existing larger openings and effectively seals openings up to 10" x 13" (250mm x 330mm)
  • Koldlok® Extended- designed to fit and seal cutouts against walls or, when two are used together, they can seal half a floor tile
